Minimalist, still life and portrait watercolour painter
Local artist Roberta Shaw created Paper Scissor Print in 2017 as a platform to showcase her personal artistic practice and as an avenue for her passion for teaching art.
She runs local workshops in drawing, watercolor and bookbinding. She studied at the University of Calgary and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Print Media. She worked and taught at the former Alberta College of Art (now Alberta University of the Arts) for five years through the Continuing Education Program. Anatomy is a common theme in her work, manifesting in her prolific portrait work and anatomical paintings. With minimal brushwork she creates realist paintings of anatomical images and faces. Her imagery is crisp, with modern clean lines, while embracing the delicate shifts in tone that watercolor excels at. In addition to watercolor, Roberta Shaw also works in print media, digital media and is an accomplished bookbinder.
