Auction FAQ

To avoid last minute bidding, any bids received within the last 5 minutes of the auction will add 2 minutes to the auction countdown clock. For example, if an auction is ending at 6 p.m. and a bid comes in at 5:59 p.m., the auction will be extended to 6:02 p.m., another bid at 6:00 p.m. will extend time to 6:04 p.m., and so forth. By doing this, the art will go to the highest bidder and not just the ‘quickest clicker’ giving everyone a fair chance to place their highest bid.

What is “Maximum Bidding”?
Maximum bidding is the easiest way to bid on an auction. When you’re ready to bid on an auction listing, enter the maximum amount you feel comfortable with. We’ll then bid on your behalf – enough to keep you in the lead, but only up to that limit. If someone outbids you, you’ll get an email letting you know you’ve been outbid. If the price increases more than the minimum increment, it would be because someone else also entered a maximum bid. For example, a listing’s bid price is currently at $200 and you enter a maximum bid of $220. If the price automatically goes up to $220 (and you are the highest bidder) it is because another bidder had a maximum bid of $210.

Reminder: Bidding on items can be exciting, but it is a contractual obligation. When you’re deciding on your maximum bid, be sure you’re happy to pay that amount if you win the auction.

Why did I get outbid immediately?
If you get outbid immediately after placing a bid, it’s likely another bidder has placed a maximum bid that’s higher than yours. You’ll need to bid again until you are the highest bidder.

Can I retract a bid?
If you enter a bid by mistake, just contact us and we’ll do our best to remove your bid as quick as possible!

What’s the minimum bid increment?
Bids increase by $5.00
