Vibrant & colourful abstract artist
Growing up in and moving around BC I was surrounded by beauty everywhere I looked, from the beaches of Vancouver Island to the Mountains and Forests of Whistler, everywhere I turned I found inspiration.
With no formal training, I’m self taught, learning through trial and error and a passion for colour. In the beginning I dabbled in painting landscapes, abstracts, and still life but my main focus was papier mache sculptures and wall hangings. After showing my papier mache in the Telus Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival’s State of the Art show I decided to take a small break from sculpting and focus more on painting. Before too long I had fallen in love with abstract painting which has become my main focus. At 31 I found myself feeling antsy and desperate for change so I decided to pack everything I owned into a van and with my two dogs in tow I set off to restart my life in Calgary. Moving from a small rural town in BC to the city of Calgary was the change I was looking for and exactly what I needed to re-spark my passion for painting. Since then I haven’t been able to put my brush down. When I’m not taking the dogs on adventures or experimenting with new vegan recipes, I’m spending my time creating rich and vibrant paintings. While I still like to dabble in different mediums and styles, I always find myself drifting back to acrylics and abstracts.
